Today I am very interested to talk about writing skill because it's very significant to make our learners precise and good language users. One can be a good human when he/she is a good language user.
Writing is the biggest problem mostly in many classes. It's a very significant challenge to teachers to improve writing of learners. Many teachers are confused about how to deal with writing skill. Teachers give task or drill as homework. And what do students do? They just copy from somewhere without comprehension. I was also doing the same but very soon I realized that it was my stupid mistake. Then I stopped that method and started working on something different methods. Initially I was also confused how to deal with it?
Firstly I started counting the problems of my learners that in which areas they are weak. I designed some activities of my own as per their problems. eg. If someone is unable to write 26 alphabets in English, I give him model chart of alphabets and tell that learner to write and practice here in the class. I don't allow him or her to write and practice at home. I try to make them perfect in the class only. I use the same criteria with other learners. While teaching in the class I design activities as suitable as to their problems. And tell them to complete it in the class. When my learners dealing with the activities, I go to them observe and check it.if I found any mistake, I would make it clear on the spot so learner keep it in mind for long periods.
I hope such attitude and involvement of teacher with learners in the class will be fruitful to all of us.
